Climate Change and Environmental Justice Contaminated Sediments Conference

Coming soon to a sediment cleanup site near you – new regulatory requirements for incorporation of climate change planning and environmental justice. On April 11, 2023, TIG Environmental attended and co-chaired an ELEC seminar. Conference attendees heard details and updates from EPA, DEQ, and Ecology on what may soon be required as part of your local sediment cleanup project.  Additional perspectives included legal and technical discussions around how best to ensure compliance and technical sufficiency. Addressing climate change resilience and environmental justice at cleanup sites is becoming a top priority for agencies and communities, so this was a unique opportunity to be a part of the conversation.

Environmental Law Education Center’s spring conference featured co-chairs and speakers Philip Spadaro of TIG Environmental and Bridgette R. DeShields of Integral Consulting. ELEC has over 30 years experience of providing cutting edge educational opportunities for environmental professionals

From TIG Environmental, Philip Spadaro co-chaired the conference and moderate the Climate Change Adaptation and Contaminated Sediments panel. Jason Dittman was also a panel member and spoke on that topic. Erin O'Connell was a panel member and spoke on the topic of Environmental Justice, Risk Communication and Remediation.
